Pool of Abraham in Turkey

I am not participating in Inspired Sunday so long, so I am free today and I want to join this meme. I am going to share with you a religious lake today. It's name is Pool of Abraham however in Turkish it is Balıklı Göl. When you translate Balıklı Göl sentence by sentence it means "Lake with Fishes"

The pool of Abraham is a major landmark of Urfa region. It is visited by many Turkish people but also by foreign tourists.

This pool is special because it is believed by Muslims to be the place where Abraham was thrown into the fire by Nemrut (Nimrod). The story says that when Ibrahim (Abraham) (as) landed in the fire, Allah turned the flames to water and the burning logs into fish.

Those fishes are considered sacred so no one is fishing them nor eating them. Every visitors are feeding them.

As a Turkish I haven't visited yet this place. It is so far away from my place however I want to visit there some day. I am seeing in social media that every visitors are so happy to visit there.

What about you? Have you ever been to Balıklı Göl in Şanlıurfa? If you visit please comment below.
